Duties
Operates Posts Electronic PABX telephone switchboard and performs other related duties. In addition, the incumbent places official outgoing local and long-distance phone calls for American staff and Locally Employed Staff. Acts as a billing (telephone clerk), to smoothly expedite the billing and payment process. Billing and Accounts - collates and forwards home landline and bundled internet bills to American officers monthly for payment. Maintains the SAFE database with the latest phone numbers and email addresses for all employees at post. Time Keeper for the IRM Sub-Post in WinTA. Responsible for keeping track of time keeping functions, leaves and OT of all IRM staff at post and entering them into the WinTA database.
The incumbent operates the electronic PABX telephone switchboard. Hyderabad is the biggest Consulate and most calls are from Amercian Citizens living and working in India. Hyderabad's Consular region has the maximum number of American Citizens. Since 2023, Hyderabad ACS is handling the DS-82 (Adult passport) Repatriation program for All-India, So our ACS call volumes are very high. Many calls are from the Indian public with inquiries regarding Visa applications and other Consular services. Many other calls are official Consulate business from American staff at other U.S. Missions including New Delhi Chief of Mission and Assistant Secretaries of State.
In addition, the incumbent places official outgoing local and long-distant phone calls for American staff and Locally employed staff. In this capacity this incumbent keeps a record of long-distance calls and overseas calls, and provides such information to the billing clerk for ICASS cost accounting. He/she also keeps a running record of number changes and for publishing updated telephone directories. This incumbent reports cases of malfunctioning telephone equipment to the Telephone Technician and attempts to resolve call complaints as the occasion demands.
Maintains the SAFE database with the latest phone numbers and email addresses for all employees at post. Works with the SAFE office in Washington to transfer the users in and out of post during arrivals and departures. This software is critical as the RSO relies on this for emergency notifications. Time keeper for the IRM sub-post in WinTA. Responsible for keeping track of time keeping functions, leaves and OT of all IRM staff at post and entering them into the WinTA database
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: One-year prior telephone operator experience or call center customer service job, handling high volume of calls.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Telephone and Radio applications and technical procedures
Education Requirements:
Completion of Higher Secondary School (XII std)
Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: English Level III and Hindi/Telugu Level III - This may be tested

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Hyderabad, India may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
